¶ On the first blank is written - 'Margaret Compton, from her loving Godmother E Camilla Gurdon, Dec 1892'. Most likely to be Lady Eveline Camilla Gurdon ( nee Wallop ). Lady Eveline [ 1858 - 1894 ], was a daughter of the 5th Earl of Portsmouth. She married Sir William Brampton Gurdon, whose home was at Assington Hall, Suffolk, in 1887. She was the author of many stories and articles based on East Anglian folklore. Margaret Compton is possibly Lady Margaret Louisa Lizzie Compton [ 1886 - 1970 ], daughter of William George Spencer Scott Compton, 5th Marquess of Northampton.
