Adrienne Adams [1906-2002] was a children's book illustrator, an artist and an author of books for children. She won two Caldecott Medals [1960 and 1962] and the 1973 Rutgers Award for overall contributions to children's literature. Very good .
Intended for publication in newspapers of the period with text for a press realease accompanying the photograph printed in type on paper mounted to the the bottom of the photo from the verso. The text of the press release reads as follows:
"PRINCE CHARLES IS THREE / Britain's Royal grandson, Prince Charles, wears neat bow tie with his natty romper suit in this picture made for his third birthday which he observes, Nov. 14. Only one thing is missing -- his royal parents, the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Elizabeth, could not return from their tour in time for the observance. This official portrait was made by Marcus Adams, a court photographer. / GFR 1P 11/14/51 LON 65". Very good .

The Royal Court photographer Marcus Adams (1875- 1959) devoted his career to photographing children and captured two generations of Royal children. Very good .
Signed by the author in full on the title page. Additionally inscribed by Adcock and signed "Tom A." on the verso of the half-title. Fine .
The bookplate of Franklin H. Chase is mounted on the front pastedown. Three publisher's leaflets advertising books are laid in. Very good .
This catalogue of the Adelman collection includes 216 items. The introduction consists of an address made by Seymour Adelman at Bryn Mawr on the occasion of his donating his collection of books and autographs to the college library. Very good .
