CARL ANDRE: POEMS
Zurich & Schaffenhausen, SWITZERLAND, JRP Ringier & Museum zu Allerheiligen Schaffhausen., 2014, First Edition. (ISBN: 3-03-764364-1) Illustrated Boards, Oblong 4to, 152pp, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. Text in English and German. Designed by Nicolas Eigenheer and Vera Kaspar. With an exhibition checklist. "Carl Andre was a poet before he was an artist, and between 1960 and 1965 he produced a substantial body of innovative visual poetry. Arranging language on paper as carefully and as sculpturally as he was later to arrange pieces of metal or bricks on the floor, Andre approached words as adjustable entities, to be moved around within the limits of the space of the sheet of paper. These works, made during the height of the international Concrete poetry movement, appeared alongside his sculptures in exhibitions and were excerpted in scholarly writings about the artist. With this volume, Andre’s influential poetic oeuvre is now gathered comprehensively for the first time. The poems, which were often typed on 8 x 11" paper, are reproduced in quasi-facsimile, to convey Andre’s sculptural intentions. Also included are essays by art historians Gavin Delahunty and Valérie Mavridorakis, and curator Lynn Kost". A brand new, pristine hardbound example of this scholarly yet lively study published in conjunction with a 2014 Swiss Museum exhibition still in the publisher's shrinkwrap.. As New/No Jacket - As Issued.

Published by Los Angeles' last great nudist haven, The Elysium Institute, "Ankh" is arguably the most awesome of all the under the counter Hippie psychedelic magazines of the late sixties. Included are pictorials on communes, nudist colonies, and light shows along with articles such as "Sex in The Sun", "Group Therapy in the Nude" "What Hath God / LSD / God Wrought?", "Thoreau: The First Hippie", and the two-part "Barry McGuire (!) on Sex". A bright, spectacularly well-preserved run of the first four issues of this obscure crowd pleaser. APANEL, PETER, EDITOR, A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE PASADENA DOO-DAH PARADE
APANEL, PETER, EDITOR
A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE PASADENA DOO-DAH PARADE
Pasadena, CA, The Pasadena Doo-Dah Parade., 1982, First Edition. Stapled Illustrated Wrappers, 4to, np (28pp), profusely illustrated in b&w. Lovingly produced on a shoestring budget, this is the officially published 1982 celebration of the first five years of The Pasadena Doo-Dah Parade. Known as "the twisted sister of the Tournament of Roses Parade", the "Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade" began as a grassroots event in 1978 that immediately gained national attention for its eccentric and irreverent satire. Initially populated by local iconoclasts and Cal Tech students - a highly overlapping Venn diagram right there - it has now poked Monty Python-esque fun at it's elder and much more staid annual civic celebration for over forty years. Featuring a cover artwork by Rev. Dr. R.C. "Spike" Love, it has "lots of photos" of the earliest festivities by Maury Cohen, Michael Kundak, Walt Mancini, Joe Messinger, Mitch Mitchener, Robin Muller, and Margaret Schermerhorn. Amusingly enough, virtually all of its few paid advertisements are from breweries and beer distributors. A handsome example of this charming, exceedingly uncommon document - only a single copy fittingly enough located at The Pasadena Public Library is currently cited in OCLC WorldCat - showing just a bit of light soiling to its white covers.. Near Fine.
