Mexico: Tipografia de R. Rafael, 1849. First edition. 35 pp. 8vo, Wraps. with decorative borders. 8vo. Covers foxed, light wear, else fine. Includes three separate documents concerning the incorporation of the Compana de Minas Guanajuatense-Mexicana to develop two mines at the town of Mineral de la Luz, just outside the city of Guanajuato. Mineral de la Luz was an important silver and quicksilver mining town in the colonial period, which underwent a renewed boom in the 1840s thanks to improved mining methods and foreign investment. Most of the named _accionistas_ (shareholders) are Mexicans, but include at least four foreigners: Lionel Davidson, German and Fernando Pohls, and Mauricio O'Lombel. Lionel Davidson was Nathan Mayer Rothschild's nephew and his agent in Mexico until his death in 1852 when his brother Nathaniel took up his position. Another brother, Benjamin Davidson, was Rothschild's agent in San Francisco during the Gold Rush. A rare early Mexican mining document, showing the involvement of the Rothschilds in Mexico. OCLC locates only one copy.
