Spach, Israel.
Gynaeciorum sive de mulierum tum communibus, tum gravidarum, parientium, et puerperarum affectibus et morbis.
Argentinae: Sumptibus Lazari Zetzneri, 1597. 0. Hardcover. Folio. [xxxvi], 28, 1080, [xxxiv]pp. Title-page in red-and-black. With large woodcut printer's device. Modern half calf over marble boards. With textual illustrations. Adams S1517; Cutter and Viets pp 29-30; Durling 2254; Garrison and Morton 6013; Norman 1977; Waller 9096; Wellcome 6030. An assembly of gynaecological texts, both classical and 'modern.' 'Spach's compilation of gynecological and obstetrical texts was the largest such collection of its day, reprinting most of the works collected in Caspar Wolff's Volumen gynaeciorum and Gaspard Bauhin's Gynaeciorum sive de mulierum affectibus (1586-88), and adding several other treatises. The collection includes works by Plater (whose anatomy of the female genitalia heads the collection), Moschion, Le Boë, Montanus, Paré and many others. Some of the anatomical woodcuts are taken from Vesalius's Fabrica, in particular his "masculinized" representation of the female reproductive organs; also illustrated are various surgical and gynecological instruments, including a speculum' (Norman catalogue). Good.

Spach, E.
Histoire naturelle des végétaux. Phanérogames. Atlas.
Paris, Roret, 1846. 8vo (23.6 x 15.5 cm). 71 pp.; 160 engraved plates [numbered 1-8, 1-152], of which 135 finely hand-coloured. Contemporary polished half calf over marbled boards. Spine with gilt ornamental bands and two polished morocco labels with gilt title. Marbled endpapers. Speckled edges. = A seldom-seen atlas of a "Suites à Buffon" edition, written by the French botanist Edouard Spach (1801-1879). It should be complete with 14 text volumes, but this is the atlas only. The first eight plates are plain, then numbering starts anew, with those plates depicting plants finely hand-coloured, and several showing plant parts [7, 8, 13, 15, 18, 31, 37, 48, 54, 55, 76, 85, 86, 108, 117, 119, 128] uncoloured; all as intended. Some plates very lightly spotted; plates 31-38, 61-70 partly toned; otherwise a very good, clean copy. Nissen BBI, 1878.

SPACH, Tom
Tom Spach - High Garden Hong Kong. - [New].
Heidelberg / Berlin, Kehrer, 2019. 24.5 x 20 cm. [96] pp. Hardcover. Illustrated in colour throughout. - Text by Mireille Dietchy in English and French. - Tom Spach's first impression of Hong Kong was quite disconcerting - a dense city in the nature and a nature in the dense city: a vision far removed from the generally shared image of the city as an overly concentrated megalopolis. Spach started a photographic series on the subject, intrigued by this very close proximity between the city and its surrounding environment, when the urban meets the tropical forest. - New copy
