A bright half morocco signed binding from Bumpus, with the title 'Motor Boat Expenses 1936', in gilt to the spine.Internally, the first seven leaves bear the hand written log of a contemporary owner. With entries dated from between February and September 1946, and details of journeys such as Teddington to Greenwich, Dover to Newhaven and Yarmouth to Poole, this is a fascinating account of the journey's undertaken in a motorboat throughout England in the summer of 1946.The remaining pages - over three-hundred - are left blank for further journey logs, and feature blank fields including date, temperature, barometer, gallons used, and gallons put in. In a signed half morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Light fading to back strip, with rubbing to fore edge of boards resulting in minor losses to the leather. Internally, firmly bound. A scarce, fascinating description of the physical spaces of Edinburgh University from 1900 to 1905, written anonymously by four graduates and printed locally in Edinburgh. A fascinating study into the physical spaces and areas of Edinburgh University from 1900 to 1905, including the Old Quad, Kirk o' Field, the university buildings, and more. It is filled with anecdotes of the authors' time at Edinburgh University, and special events, such as the time Professor Butcher delivered a speeches of lofty idealism during the Graduation Lunch in the Union (p. 55). It is a work full of nostalgia for university days, and gives a fabulous description of Edinburgh University in the early twentieth century. Written anonymously by four graduates, and published 'at John Knox's House by William J. Hay&apos. In the original paper wraps and including a beautifully illustrated frontispiece.This was the personal copy of David W.H. Walton, a British botanist and ecologist who attended Edinburgh University, noted by his bookplate to the front free-endpaper.This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. In the original paper wraps. Externally, some discolouration to spine and extremities of the wraps. Some loss to the head and tail of the spine and some general shelf wear to the wrap. Bookplate of David W.H. Loosely inserted is a letter from R. W. Gillan, a secretary to the government of the United Provinces of India, addressed to prominent Indian lawyer Rai Bahadur Sir Sunder Lal. Dated 1910, Gillan explains that 'I am directed to forward for your use a green leather bound copy of the pamphlet containing papers connected with the Industrial Conference held at Naini Tal in August 1907&apos.Pandit Sunder Lal's bookplate - identifying him as an Advocate at the Allahabad high court - appears to the front pastedown.Consisting of a contents page followed by ninety leaves of text and charts, this work contains an account of correspondences and notices associated with the Industrial Conference held in Naini Tal in 1907, 'to consider how industrial enterprise can best be encouraged in these provinces, and to endeavour to frame a system of industrial education suited to their needs&apos.With a label identifying this work as 'Bound at the Govt.
