Eight volumes in total, consisting of Volumes II-IX. Bound in handsome half calf, with gilt detail to the spines. The bindings of volumes II to VIII are uniform, with the final two volumes very similar, but with different patterned boards and darker leather. Each issue of the Christian Examiner and Church of Ireland Magazine, over four years, from January 1826 until December 1829, bound together in book format. The Christian Examiner was established for the purpose of advocating the cause of the Established Church, and to promote Protestantism over Roman Catholicism. This work gives a fascinating account of the Church of Ireland community in the early aftermath of the Act of Union 1800, a monumental period in Irish history. The Church of Ireland is the second largest Christian church in Ireland. Written by members of the Church of Ireland. Bound in half calf. Externally, very smart with some rubbing and shelf wear to the edges. Spines are darkened for volumes VIII and IX. Small amount of loss to the rear board of volume IX. Light marks to the boards. Small crack to the upper rear joint of volume VI. Cracks to the lower joints of volume VII. Spotting to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Front hinge of volume VI starting but still very firm.
