Deer, W. A. (Editor)
List of Members of Trinity Hall Cambridge Showing the Members of the Trinity Hall Association 1967
Trinity Hall Association, Cambridge, 1967. First Thus, Softcover. Very Good Condition. The first edition of this Register appeared in 1926, and further editions in 1931, 1936, 1948, 1954 and 1960. Editorial notes have already remarked on its usefulness and popularity. The present edition should be reasonably accurate, though nobody who is sufficiently familiar with the College has had enough leisure to do all that might possibly be done by consulting works of reference. In particular, the deaths of Hall men may not have come to the notice of the Editor, especially if they were not members of the Association, or had lost touch by not sending changes of address. This edition includes for the first time the names of men who first came into residence from October, 1960, to October, 1966, inclusive. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 123 pages. Rear cover slightly grubby. no Dust Jacket as published.. Black titles spine. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 250 grams. Category: Reference; Cambridge University; Trinity Hall; England; 1960s; Education. Inventory No: 2525.

Bibliotheca Monensis: A Bibliographical Account of Works Relating to the Isle of Man
The Manx Society, Douglas, Isle of Man, 1861. First Edition, Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. publication number VIII of The Manx Society for Publication of National Documents & one of only 308 copies printed; pre-title page of Manx Society giving date established (1858), logo, volume number, & date of publication, followed by list of officers of the society. For many years previous to the establishment of the Manx Society the Editor had been collecting from time to time such Works as related in any way to the Isle of Man and making a list of the same On the formation of the Society it was suggested that it would be very desirable if such could be brought before the members at some future day The impression that such a work might be useful to those engaged in similar pursuits has led to the compilation of the present volume An obscure tract or scarce work no doubt may have here and there escaped the notice of the Editor or not have been sufficiently described for want of the work to refer to but it is presumed none of any great importance and such omission will be the sooner pardoned when it is considered by those who can form an estimate of the labour and research required in the compilation of works of this description and that the more readily when it is known there is no Public Library in the Island containing stores of this kind to which he could resort for reference but had mainly to rely on the collections contained in his own library. (We also have for sale the 1876 new, revised, corrected & enlarged edition of this work.) Size: Octavo (standard book size). 208 pages. minor mark to rear cover. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. inside front cover is the bookplate of Samuel Simpson, probably the Rev. Samuel Simpson who was chaplain at the Church of St Thomas, Douglas in 1851.. Platt, Charles (compiler)
Foulsham's Dictionary of Dates
Foulsham & Co. Ltd. London, no date circa 1930. Presumed First Edn. Hardcover (Original Green Cloth). Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. published in 'Foulsham's cloth-bound pocket library'. “A Dictionary of Dates" is a fascinating volume to have on your shelves. The 'Father' of all such compilations is "Haydn's Dictionary of Dates", now out of print, and one can only marvel at the author's patience and courage in putting together such a volume. Naturally, we are indebted to the early volumes of" Haydn ", our own work being largely editorial, together with the task of bringing it reasonably up to date. Here again, no two people would agree as to what should be included, what left out. We have, however, somewhat changed Haydn's method of arrangement, which was purely alphabetical. In the present volume, many cross references will be found, thus retaining the old idea to some extent; but, in addition, all important subjects are arranged in groups. Instead of hunting through the entire book for certain facts relating to the British Constitution, or the great European War, the reader will find these grouped together, and also arranged alphabetically for easy reference. Again, with the Religions of the World - it would take several hours to wade through entire books of reference, in order to trace all these! In this volume they are grouped conveniently under the one heading, and many items are also included that are less directly connected. All this editorial labour results in a volume that makes reference extremely easy. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. 112 pages. Black titles spine & front. light wear to extremities. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 250 grams. Category: Reference; Historical Dates; Religions; First World War; History. Inventory No: 5049.
