A brief work highlighting the efforts of Nixon and his administration to undermine, discredit and criminalize actions by college students in the "movement." The work prints J. Edgar Hoover's pearl clutching essay fretting on the "Red University," as well as promotes the YSA. The Young Socialist Alliance was the Trotskyist youth group of the Socialist Workers Party. It held a large influence in student antiwar activities in the late 60s/early 70s, but declined as the 1970s wore on. GOOD+ condition. Small puncture to the piece near the lower center edge. Two columns, with the left being a photo depicting miners in cart like vehicles. A flier raising awareness for a February 24th rally (at Plumbers Hall in San Francisco) in support of coal miners, as well as raising awareness for the union. Presumably related to the Bituminous Coal Strike of 1977-78. While a contract was negotiated, it included unfavorable stipulations for the workers, including having to start paying for health care for the first time in 30 years. VERY GOOD condition. Light toning and wrinkling. Very Good .

Three pieces by the War Resisters League, highlighting their efforts to achieve peace and social justice through nonviolent (pacifist) means. The brochure discusses the 1976 WRL National Conference held from August 11-14, 1976. The letter solicits money for the organization while highlighting ongoing efforts of the WRL. The leaflet gives a stylized map of the Continental Walk for Social Justice and Disarmament, with a bomb transforming into a dove at the top. The reverse discusses ongoing work to achieve peace, criticizing the Left for its embrace of violence and its unwillingness to work with the Right. GOOD+ condition. Fold creases present. One side bears a handwritten "Free Speech on Campus!" in red, with the other side containing a press release of sorts. This includes the names of the five students running for CCSF school board and their suspension and censure due to their call for student-faculty control of the school. The five, Jeff Berchenko, Steve Gabosch, Lloyd Kenney, Jane Sica and Joe Ward, call for control of the college by the Asian, Black and Raza communities. Perhaps issued by the Young Socialists for Jenness and Pulley (candidates for president and vice-president of the Socialist Workers Party). According to another flier, college administration removed the banner, while four of the five abovementioned students attempted to defend it: Jeff Berchenko, Steve Gabosch, Lloyd Kenney and Joe Ward. The articles focus on US imperialism at home and internationally, looking at recent events at CUNY, the carpet bombing of Cambodia, and prison life and treatment, specifically at Attica. Nolen, who Jackson met while incarcerated. Miller and Edwards are also mentioned, with the three being incarcerated and killed by a prison guard during a fight.
