Large illustration of Attica Prison on the front, with a photo of Attica Brigade members protesting. A declaration of sorts from the Attica Brigade, announcing upcoming plans for protests and solidarity with the NLF, with most of the piece an anti-war statement. The Attica Brigade was a left-wing organization that grew out of the demise of the SDS, with its name inspired by the prison uprising in Attica in 1971. The organization focused on anti-imperialism. In 1974 it changed its name to the Revolutionary Student Brigade. GOOD condition. Minor toning, wrinkling and soiling. The date 1972 written in ink on the rear page. Good .

An underground newspaper type publication, issued by members of the Attica Brigade at Richmond College in Staten Island, New York. The Attica Brigade was a left-wing organization that grew out of the demise of the SDS. It was a national organization like the SDS. In 1974 it changed its name to the Revolutionary Student Brigade. This issue with a short statement outlining what the Attica Brigade was and its goals/ideals. Most of the other articles discuss various issues at several colleges in the New York City area, including budget cutbacks, changes or deficiencies in curriculum, etc. GOOD condition. Several small notes, in marker and ink on the upper front pages, with "free" written in larger red marker. Horizontal fold crease present. General toning. Corners creased. Good .

A later issue of this pioneering underground newspaper, known as the Freep. Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with the "Notes of a Dirty Old Man" column by Charles Bukowski (in the classified section); an interview with and article on Patti Smith, including a photo and printing of her poem "Detroit Piano;" Los Angeles town planning; James Earl Ray, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate general browning. Paper slightly brittle. Minor wrinkling along the extremities. Light soiling. Good .

A flier bringing attention to the actions of Sam Warda, a San Francisco municipal bus driver being charged with malicious mischief for the removing of fallout shelter signs and mailing them to public officials. This was done in an effort to bring attention to the Shelter Program undertaken by the US government as protective measures in the event of a nuclear war. The flier points out the futility of such shelters based on the level of destruction, and points out the profiteering gained by various corporations in pushing forward with the Anti-ballistic missile program. The flier seeks funds and supporters to attend the trial of Mr. Warda. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Some scuffing and bumping along the edges, with a small tear at the top edge. Minor toning and soiling. Ink corrections to the flier. Good .

A broadside newsheet, being an underground publication issued by the Juche Collective. The collective organized in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1969, embracing left wing causes and serving as an ally to the Black Panther Party. The paper adopted the North Korean principle of Juche, one that strove toward self-sufficiency and autonomy. A quote on Juche by Kim Il Sung is printed on the rear masthead. It appears the group disbanded around 1974. This piece contains many short articles relating to local and national news, including violence and oppression committed by the police. The reverse discusses the creation and adoption of a new constitution that abandons doctrines of white supremacy for those that support all people. GOOD condition. Horizontal and vertical fold creases present. Small tear/hole at the intersection of the folds, with minor loss of text. Minor toning. Some wrinkling and creasing. A few small tears along the extremities. Good .

A leaflet or flier issued by the CCSF 4 Defense Committee, providing a statement by four students expelled from City College: Jeff Berchenko, Steve Gabosch, Lloyd Kenney and Joe Ward These statements comment on their expulsion of from City College (San Francisco), allegedly due to a skirmish over the removal of a banner in support of Jenness and Pulley (candidates for president and vice-president of the Socialist Workers Party). The college administration removed the banner, while four students attempted to defend it: Jeff Berchenko, Steve Gabosch, Lloyd Kenney and Joe Ward. The piece highlights civil liberty violations, etc. GOOD+ condition. Minor wrinkling and toning. Good .

Two legal sized sheets of paper (14 by 8 ½ inches), stapled at the upper left corner. 3 pp. A letter from one Trotskyist aligned socialist party in the US to another. The letter focuses on capitalism, the devaluation of the dollar, historical attacks on workers by capitalists in the US and what can be done in the future for workers' rights. The Worker's League originally started as the American Committee for the Fourth International, renaming itself in the 1960s, was somewhat successful in youth programs, while at the same time working against rival socialists in the Socialist Worker's Party. The Young Socialist Alliance (YSA) was a group within the aforementioned Socialist Worker's Party. GOOD condition. Heavy foxing along the top front page, with moderate offsetting to this same page. Some creasing along the right edge. A few minor tears to this edge. Fold crease present. Good .
