His philosophical writings were highly accessible, remaining much admired for centuries after, especially during the Renaissance.Seneca was also the tutor to Nero, becoming his advisor when Nero became Emperor, though his influence declined with time, leading to Seneca being forced to take his own life. 'On Clemency' was written for Nero during the first five years of his reign'On Benefits' was originally written between roughly 56 and 62 AD, 'On Clemency' in AD 55, and 'On Anger' in circa 45 AD.Translated into English by Roger L'Estrange, an English pamphleteer, and defender of the Royals during the English Civil War. He was greatly involved in political controversy in his life, and is best known for his ruthless attack on the parliamentarians 'An Account of the Growth of Knavery&apos.
