A scarce collection of thirteen volumes of the Quarterly Review, a periodical published by John Murray, comprising literary and political articles. Originally founded in 1809, it ceased publication in 1967. The present collection is formed of the following volumes: CXCIII-CXCVI, 1901-02, No. 385-392CXCVIII-CXCIX, 1903-04, No. 395-398CCII-CCVIII, 1905-08, No. 402-415Comprising a miscellany of articles spanning from agricultural reports and contemporary events, to philosophical and literary essays, reviews, and criticisms. Some of the titles include 'The Victorian Stage,' 'Virgil and Tennyson: A Literary Parallel,' 'Navy Boilers' 'The Relief of Kumassi,' 'The New Socialism,' 'The Art of the French Renaissance,' 'Horace Walpole and William Cowper,' 'Great Britain, Russia, and Japan,' and numerous others. Illustrated with a folding map to vol. CXCIX and a full page plate to vol. CCVI. In a half calf binding over marbled boards. Externally smart with minor shelf wear and a touch of edge wear, minor light rubbing to the occasional volume. With Courtown bookplate to the front pastedown. With a minor bookworm mark to the front hinge of vol. CXCVIII. With a minor damp mark to the front pastedown, affecting faintly through to p. 19 of vol. CCVII. A minor loss to the rear free endpaper of vol. CCVIII. Internally, firmly bound.
