([Aa7]-[Pp8]) with neat marginalia, some light browning, marginal dampstaining to margins of prelims., blind ownership stamp of D. Wyndham Smith to front f.e.p., lightly faded marbled e.ps., inner gilt tooled turn ins, contemporary green morocco, intricate gilt tooling to edges of boards with gilt urns and foilage and flowers, some fading to gilt with light loss to centre of boards, intricate gilt tooled spine, some wear to joints, sl. loss to corners, a.e.g.
¶ Tipped in leaf prior to title page with the signatures of a family of Gilliatts dated 1768-1772. ESTC T87227 ‘ Final leaf = Tt4. Gaskell, 19.’ To tail of title page ‘Price Eight Shillings and sixpence unbound’ partially obscured by decorative strip of paper. Apparently one of the rare copies with the prayers for the Royal Family in the original state and including the mention of Queen Charlotte whom George III had married in 1761.

Hinges cracked but firm, lacking all before title page, early ink annotations to e.ps., title page sl. soiled and stained, sporadic light browning and spotting, some light thumbing, several lower leading corners sl. curled, plates lightly browned sl. thumbed and waterstained mainly at top edge, occasional chipping to edges, fore-edge of ‘Funeral Service’ plate torn with loss not affecting image, gutter margin of first couple of pages sl. chipped at tail, gilt fillet edged full contemporary brown tree calf, some minor marking, sl. wear to corners, joints splitting in parts but firm, sl. rubbed gilt filleted bands and gilt lettered red leather title label to sl. rubbed spine, label and head of spine sl. chipped.
