Lodowicke Muggleton was an English religious thinker and gave his name to Muggletonianism.John Reeve was an English prophet who believed the voice of God had instructed him to found a Third Commission. He was cousin to Lodowicke Muggleton and they saw themselves as the last prophets. In paper wraps. The rear wrap is slightly bumped and folded and there are some marks to the wraps. A Scottish History Society edition of Robertus Richardinus' commentary on the Rule of St Augustine. Predominantly published in in Latin, with an introduction in English. Written around the year 400, the Rule of Saint Augustine is a document that served as an outline for religious monastic life. It is the oldest monastic rule in the Western Church, and outlines rules surrounding chastity, poverty, obedience, detachment from the world, the apportionment of labour, fraternal charity, prayer, fasting, abstinence, and caring for the sick. The present volume is based on a sixteenth century transcript of Robertus Richardinus' exegesis. The British historian and polemicist George Gordon Coulton lectured at the University of Cambridge and was known for his numerous works on medieval history. With a list of subscribers to the Scottish History to the rear. With eleven pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. (2 February 1745 – 1 July 1813) was an English preacher and coalheaver. Huntington was a strict Calvinist who believed that some were predestined to be saved and some were not. He believed that on Judgment Day he would be identified as a true prophet. His unusual, polemical preaching style and writings made him popular but brought him into conflict with other preachers throughout his life. He founded or opened chapels throughout England, many of which still survive. Including "The Servant of the Lord Described and Vindicated", delivered at Providence Chapel February 17th 1788. Also "The Glory of the Second House", delivered at the opening of Providence Chapel, Gray's Inn Lane, June 28th 1811. With ink inscription to verso of first title page, "James Pidgeon, Worlingham", dated 1814. In a cloth binding. Externally, a trifle rubbed. Front joint splitting slightly, though firm. Internally, firmly bound with scattered spots. Glue marks to front free endpaper. Rear free endpaper missing. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
