Collated, lacking title page, final twenty pages and errata. Final twenty pages include the rest of chapter XIII and chapter XIV. The full title reads as: A second guide to heaven : shewing, that it is every mans indispensable duty and interest to secure heaven for himself; because whoever misseth it, and is lost, is utterly undone, and miserably wretched, and the whole world is nothing to him, to help, or comfort him. And the man that is sav'd is unspeakably and eternally blessed· Likewise representing to consideration the common and notorious neglects and mistakes about this business of so great concernment the saving or losing self. By S.H. the author of the former Guide to heaven. Misbound, with the spine label allocating authorship to Baxter, presumably English Puritan, Richard Baxter. Spine label also lists title as 'Grand Interest', the title to the main section of this text. Samuel Hardy (1636/7-1691) was a nonconformist minister from Frampton, Dorset. He was educated at Wadham College, Oxford from 1656 to 1659. Upon graduation he became chaplain to the Trenchard family of Wolfeton House, Charminster near Dorchester. Prior to this publication he wrote another Guide to Heaven. In a half calf binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Lacking title page and final twenty pages. Pages are rather age toned with minor loss to corners, not affecting text. Leaves A2, A3, B2-B5 with amateur repair to corners and leaf A2 laid down onto newer paper. scattered spots throughout. Good Only . Ill.: None. Good Only .
