A first hand account of the Korean War as experienced by Patrick James McCaffery, serving in the Seventeenth Regiment, Seventh Division of the US Armed Forces in Korea. Edited and arranged by his mother, this work recalls his time as a machine gunner and radio operator, mentioning in somewhat brief terms, Chinese attacks, battles, slogging up and down hills, laying wire and mines, etc. as well as the daily life of the soldier when not in combat. GOOD jacket on a VERY GOOD book. General fading to the jacket, with some browning to the rear panel. Minor soiling and scuffing. Two large tears to the jacket at the upper front extremity with some chipping and loss to the head of the spine. Minor chipping and tearing to the corners. This was a lengthy battle and siege on a strongly fortified Confederate position on the Mississippi River, which the Union Army felt was crucial in controlling access to the river. GOOD condition. Moderate to heavy soiling to the covers, with uneven darkening and fading. Minor scuffing. Some fraying to the cloth along the extremities. Spine faded and discolored, with some areas of discoloration to the rear cover. Binding cocked. Interior hinges weakening. Text block solid with minor scattered soiling and very light scattered foxing. Faint to moderate dampstaining present along the page extremities throughout the book. Good/No Jacket.
