A copy of this Nineteenth Century work on medicine by Descuret. Fourth Edition, corrected and augmented; in French. Jean Baptiste Felix Descuret (4 June 1795 27 November 1871) was a French physician and author who was a native of Chalon-sur-Saone. He studied and practiced medicine in Paris, and afterward worked in Chatillon-d'Azergues. In a half calf leather binding, with gilt title detailing to the spine and marbled paper-covered boards. Externally, sound with some rubbing, a few marks, and slight loss to the extremities. The leather is missing from the outer corners of the boards. The front hinge is tender, and the rear hinge is strained. Internally, the binding is strained. The pages are generally bright and clean, with scattered spotting, and discolouration to the endpapers. In the early decades of the nineteenth-century, cauterization was the favoured method of unblocking urethral strictures, with Ducamp's method being was one of the most popular and least harmful to the patient.Illustrated with five plates. Collated, complete.The second and third works are parts I and II of the first edition of M. F. Lallemand's observations on diseases of the genitourinary organs, published in 1825 and 1827.
