Designing 'building sculptures' out of gravel pits. Interesting concept, well illustrated but with some nerve-jangling text. The author exploits the angular nature of quarrying machinery and introduces his own highly deconstructivist designs.

Thomas was born in South Shields in 1883 but moved as a young boy to Cardiff. He became influential in modern architecture and was president of RIBA and the South Wales Institute of Architecture. He was also prominent in town planning, becoming a member of the Town Planning Institute. Becoming scarce.

A beautifully produced book and still valuable, not least for its fine illustrations.
