Written by French novelist and journalist, Edmond Francois About, known for his amusing, anti-clerical writing. A number of his works, including this one, have been adapted into film; 'The Man with the Broken Ear' was a 1934 French drama film starring Robert Boudrioz and Thomy Bourdelle. This entertaining science-fiction novel presents the difficulties faced by a man who is stuck in the wrong time. A French soldier of the First Empire is suspended in time for fifty years, being brought back to life in the Second Empire. Translated by J. E. Maitland. Bound in green cloth. He was also president of the National Education Association in 1902, when the association was heavily involved in the debating the Education Bill.
