The author's presentation copy of this collection of satires, written and illustrated by Cynicus, a presentation copy to the fellow writer Eden Phillpotts. An author's presentation copy, signed by the author to the verso to the front free endpaper. 'To Eden Phillpotts With sincere regards from Cynicus May 92&apos. This work is a series of satirical cartoons, containing controversial topics of the time. Illustrated with eleven plates and numerous in-text illustrations. Written and illustrated by Cynicus, the pseudonym of Martin Anderson. Cynicus was a Scottish artist and political cartoonist. Eden Phillpotts was an English author and poet, being a very prolific writer. Some of his works were 'The End of a Life', 'The Golden Feitch', 'Demeter's Daughter', 'The Deed Without a Name', 'The Human Boy and the War', and much more. With two newspaper clippings loosely inserted, one detailing the loneliness of Cynicus' older brother, and the later reunion of them. Both clippings are from 'The Sunday Times', one from December 29 1929, the other from 5th January 1930. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Some very minor marks to the boards. Author's presentation inscription to the verso to the front free endpaper.
