As a young girl Christine Ballentine was the typical, horse crazy kid. Finally, when she was 9 , her parents got her a horse, Jerry. Jerry was nothing like the horse she'd fantasized about, but he was now hers. Jerry was a pinto, but not like the prancing, gorgeous pinto Christine dreamed about. But he was hers. And in 1996, 21 years after Jerry died, this woman, still with the horse crazy girl inside her, wrote this loving story about her first horse, and what she taught him, and how much more he taught her. For every one of us, who has dreamed of our own horse, whether realized or not, this is a great story. Some of us it took until we were much older, but are luckily sharing our lives with our fantasy horse; like Christine, mine doesn't look quite as I had envisioned, and some other differences, but in Oh so many ways, he is so much more than that unreal horse.
