[Willem III in 's Gravenhage]
Ongesigneerd. [EN] In early 1691 William traveled from England to The Hague to discuss the anti-French league. Against the will of the prince the city of The Hague and the States of Holland wanted to participate to the hearing as listeners. De Hooghe and Govert Bidloo - later was the personal physician of William III - described the festivities with emphasis on the entry transforming such pictures in a sort of illustrated propaganda. The picture is included in G. Bidloo, 'Komst van Zijn Majesteit Willem III in Holland...', 1691, and beautifully displays a crowded Binnenhof with people and carriages, with the Ridderzaal towering on the right.
