ETSC citation number T154299 and T154302.Two volumes of 'The Historical Register', for the years 1722 and 1724, Volumes VII and IX respectively. Collated, complete.This 'Historical Register' began publication in 1716, published in parts, which ceased publication in 1738. Offering an incredibly detailed exploration of each year, with articles on events such as the death of John Churchill the 1st Duke of Marlborough, the abdication of King Philip V of Spain and subsequent death of his heir, Louis, the trial of Doctor Francis Atterbury, and crimes of Arundel Coke and John Woodburne, a description on the affairs of Malta, the court of St. Petersburg, and more.Each volume also includes a lengthy diary which notes all of the notable births, marriages, deaths, and more for the year, with a separate title, pagination, and register.Bookplate of Panshanger to the front paste downs. Panshanger was a large country house in Hertfordshire, originally being built and remodeled by the Earls Cowper. The park is home to the largest maiden oak in England, which is believed to have been planted by Queen Elizabeth I. Centuries later Winston Churchill planted a sapling from the tree in the park, the tree still surviving in the grounds. In a full calf binding, 1722 volume is neatly rebacked.
