An exceptionally scarce, first edition of this historical work on The Maison Royale de Saint-Louis, a boarding school set up for girls at Saint-Cyr. A first edition of this very scarce work, bound in quarter morocco with marbled boards. Written by Paul de Noailles, the 6th Duke of Noailles, who was a French nobleman and historian. This interesting historical work documents the background of The Maison Royale de Saint-Louis, which was a girls boarding school founded in 1686 at Saint-Cyr. The school was established by King Louis XIV at the request of his second wife, Francoise d'Aubigne, who wanted to create a school for girls who came from impoverished noble families. The school remained open until 1803. With two illustrations to the front of the work depicting a commemorative medallion marking the foundation of the school. Collated, complete. Bound in quarter morocco with marbled boards. Externally, very good, with slight rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark. Spine is a little faded. Internally, firmly bound. A collection of 47 late 19th-century covers used to protect school notebooks in France. The major themes of notebook covers produced between 1880 and 1910 were patriotic subjects, including the history of France, geography (France and the conquest of the colonies), and famous figures who forged France. The majority of the notebook covers in this sammelband display these patriotic and historical themes; the other covers depict illustrations and information about animals and handicrafts. A sammelband of reprinted articles from the Romsey Advertiser, specifically a column called "By-Gone Romsey Extra" from 3rd December 1915 to 5th May 1916 (Parts I to XXI) and later "By-Gone Romsey Infra" from 5th May 1916 to 23rd June 1916 (Parts XXII to XXIX). Romsey Extra and Romsey Infra combine to make up the parish of Romsey. This collection of articles provides a wealth of information on the local history of Romsey. An incredibly scarce work. Collated, complete. ESTC citation number T66805. An interesting work discussing a 1751 bill on British Naturalization. The work is not addressed to anyone of any particular political beliefs, but rather is addressed to everyone no matter the beliefs they hold. This naturalization bill received the earnest support of Lord Chatman, and Mr. Pitt. It passed through the House without much opposition. However. the bill was abandoned when the Session of Parliament was hurried to the throne, as the heir to the throne, the father of King George III, died. The bill was never revived. It is unknown for wrote this work. Disbound. Externally, the outer leaves are discoloured with discolouration to the folds. Edgewear, resulting in some closed tears. Light marks to the outer wraps.
