First edition of a lengthy description of the ancient castle "Loevestein", near Gorinchem, in which Hugo de Groot had been kept prisoner, and from which he escaped in a book-trunk. The folding frontispice print of the castle being a misprint, the centre is blank, there is only the ornamental border.. Printed on fine moulded paper. Modern artificial dark green leather. In all a nice copy of a scarce book. Good/No Jacket.
