The main character has a dream in which he dies and goes to heaven (or perhaps purgatory) and has to decide whether to teach at the Gnostics' College or take a writing job in the Backwards Believers' Department. Pp.162, signed by the author to title page, dedicatee's name additionaly handwritten to dedication page, owner's details to front free endpaper. Yellow cloth, dustwrapper rubbed with losses to lower front and top and tail of spine and fropnt fore-edge worn. Scarce. VG/G.
