Pigs for Slaughter. Issue 2 Autumn (1981?)
No Place, No Publisher. Wraps. Single sheet, approximately 16 ½ by 11 5/8 inches, folded into fourths. With a smaller questionnaire issued by the Anarchist Youth Federation stapled to it. Second issue of this zine style work with clipped art and text in a collage format. Devoted to anarchy and the destruction of the state, Pigs for Slaughter "promote[d] direct action to speed up the state's disintegration." (from Ripped, torn and cut: Pop, politics and punk fanzines from 1976.). This issue discusses the destruction of McDonald's, silkscreening methods, a guide to the SPG, Anarchist Centre news, the punk band The Apostles, and a questionnaire looking for insight into what youth might want in an organization like the Anarchist Youth Federation (despite the oxymoronic implication of an anarchist organization). VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and wrinkling. (Mark Jay collection). Very Good .

Sleeping Dogs
No Place, No publisher. Wraps. Illustrated wraps. 8 ½ by 11 inches. 24 pp. including covers. Perhaps the first issue of this zine reminiscent of the Secret Public, using collages of ads, articles, etc. to comment on US politics and culture, with an anti-fascist editorial slant. This may have been issued to promote the shortlived band Sleeping Dogs, an American hardcore band that issued a record on Crass Records in 1982. Given their anti-Western imperialism stance, the content certainly fits. No indication of artists, etc. in the zine. Nicely done work. There was at least one other issue published, so it's possible this is (not) the first issue. VERY GOOD condition. Minor toning and a few wrinkles. Very Good .

St. Albans Antibof. #2. Punks V. St. Albans Issue
St. Albans, Captain High, At Your Service Publishing, 1977. Wraps. 11 ¾ by 8 ¼ inches. Single stapled format. 10 pp. No sticker present. PLEASE NOTE: this may be an early copy of an original, as the printing is very faded, including some dot matrix style printing of letters at the bottom. Comparisons with the second issue on the satellitestalbans website show a much darker printing, perhaps originally offset. Second issue of this fanzine that "mixed sideswipes at St. Albans and the 'dozy morons who inhabit this place' with appeals to the populace to wake up to punk music (see Haslam: Life After Dark: A History of British Nightclubs & Music Venues). After the Sex Pistols had performed two shows at the Hertfordshire College of Art and Design, many other punk acts followed, including the Clash and the Damned. A small but vibrant punk scene grew in the area, including the band the Nipple Erectors. This issue with coverage of the Clash, the Ramones, Buzzcocks, the Damned and others. GOOD condition, very faded with much text hard to read. Minor toning and a faint crease present. Good .

St. Albans, Captain High, At Your Service Publishing, 1977. Wraps. 11 ¾ by 8 ¼ inches. Single stapled format. 10 pp. Small Heartbreakers sticker present, stated issued with the first 100 copies. PLEASE NOTE: this may be an early copy of an original, as the printing is very faded, including some dot matrix style printing of letters at the bottom. Comparisons with the third issue on the satellitestalbans website show a much darker printing, perhaps originally offset, although original sticker is present, making dating a bit unclear. Third issue of this fanzine that "mixed sideswipes at St. Third issue, with extensive coverage of the Heartbreakers. Black and white photos throughout. 17 leaves, most printed on single sides, with some exceptions. A few leaves printed on pink or light green paper. Worthless Words Number Six
Exeter, UK, No publisher, 1978. Wraps. Side stapled zine. Approximately 11 ¾ by 8 ¼ inches. 28 pp. Black and white photos and clip art throughout. Single issue of this zine from the Exeter region of England, absorbing two other earlier zines from the area, Catrap and Stranded. This particular copy bears many signatures on the covers. Front cover signed by Jimmy Pursey of Sham 69 accompanied by the word "Fanx." Illegible signature with the block handwritten letters "I like lots of sex but I don't get it," also on the front cover. Rear cover bears a signature from Siouxsie, although this does not appear similar to any other examples of hers and is best considered fake; a signature from Captain Sensible of the damned, with the inscription "I am a famous person," signed The Captain, is also present, and while similar to other examples, is probably fake. Several other illegible signatures are present, as well as one by Andy, who was presumably told to write "something good," which he did. A few are addressed to Tina. Pieces on Ian Drury, Squeeze, Ultravox, Tom Robinson, X-Ray Spex and others included, plus a dedication to the former editor, Nick Hampson, who died in a motorcycle accident. GOOD condition. Minor toning, soiling and staining, with some rust stains at the staples. Faint crease along the spine. Rear cover wrinkled, with some scuffs along its spine edge. Good .

Tomorrow the World. Issue 1
London, Max Great Publisher. Wraps. no date, presumed 1977 based on the review of The Clash's first album. Single stapled (perhaps the world's tiniest staple) zine format. 11 ¾ by 8 ¼ inches. 11 leaves, printed on single sides only. Poorly reproduced photos throughout. Written by 17 year old Max Great (handwritten as he couldn't type), Tomorrow the World offered an insider perspective on the London punk scene, at least as far as the average teenage fan was concerned.
