The Big Takeover was founded by Jack Rabid in 1980 as a fanzine primarily devoted to the band the Stimulators, evolving into a fanzine devoted to punk music, before transitioning to a magazine format in 1989. It is still published today. Issue nine of this zine, with news of Heart Attack, Reagan Youth, Bad Brains, Fear, Ruts D.C. and others. GOOD+ condition. Some toning along the extremities. Minor wrinkling and curling. Good .

A fanzine devoted to punk and hardcore, with an underlying tone of unity and equality throughout. As such, one column takes Bad Brains to task for their anti-gay stance, and criticizes the antics of Quincy Punks. With articles/interviews with the Dead Kennedys, Poison Girls, Crass, White Cross and others, as well as several pieces on the state of the punk and hardcore scene in the United States, citing a vibrant underground scene. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease. Heavy browning. Moderate to heavy chipping, splitting and tearing along the extremities and hinges. Minor soiling. Good .

Early, if not the first, punk fanzine in Chicago. Pieces on the Mumps and the Popperz; a cartoon illustrating the words to the Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop; an article on reggae by Jah Sky, etc. GOOD+ condition. Minor to moderate toning. Light wrinkling. This focused on postpunk and new wave, adopting a straightforward tone with a hint of the literary and satire. Includes pieces on D.C. Nien, Swell Maps, The Modern Heirs and others. And for the U2 fans, two large photos of the band, over two pages, are included, as well as the lyrics to Boy/Girl and Out of Control (both attributed to CBS record label). VERY GOOD condition. Minor wrinkling and toning. Very Good .

As Darby notes, she started the zine as a "forum and an escape," eventually using it as a vehicle to explore the world and a variety of experiences. While earlier issues tended to cover punk music and the punk scene, the zine eventually grew to cover a range of women's experiences and pop culture in general. (Green [editor] p. 70). This issue reviews local punk shows, interviews Bad Religion, provides satire on a variety of subjects, etc. GOOD condition. Some toning and curling along the spine. Minor curling at the corners, with a few tiny tears along the edges. Good .
