All envelopes complete with enclosed letter. G+ ** Family history records show that: Edwin Foster was born in 1809 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England, the son of Joseph. He is listed as an Apothecary and General Practioner. He married Harriette Edgar on July 30, 1837, in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. They had six children in 15 years. He died in 1881 at the age of 72, and was buried in Pontefract, Yorkshire, England.

Cornard, Sudbury, Suffolk: 1891 - 1892 . 0. When William Rayner was born in 1861 in Little Cornard, Suffolk, his father, William (a blacksmith), was 40 and his mother, Hannah, was 38. He married Eliza Gilbert in 1887. He is first recorded as a blacksmith, but then became a Postm and moving closer to Sudbury. His last residence was 42 East Street, Sudbury. They had six children in 10 years. He died in December 1934 at the age of 73. The "In Memoriam" cards relate to three of his children who died in their early years.

Major General Sir Howard Elphinstone, 1st Baronet CB (4 March 1773 – 28 April 1846) was a commander of the Royal Engineers in the Peninsular War. Elphinstone was the youngest son of John Elphinstone, a captain in the Royal Navy and for a period a vice-admiral in the Russian Navy. His mother was Amelia, daughter of John Warburton.. He was created 1st Baronet of Elphinstone, of Sowerby in the County of Cumberland, in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 25 May 1816, and nominated a Companion of the Order of the Bath." - See Wikipedia.

Very little is recorded of his boyhood but we know he spent many years as a billiard coach with Messrs. Burroughes and Watts Ltd. and played in the B. & W. tournaments at The "Royal Aquarium" making a name for himself with a break of 282 in a "Spot" and "Push" barred match during, 1878.. " 1932 Nov 30, Sporting Life" reported the death of Mr. J. P. (Jack) Mannock at his home in Finchley at the age of 73 and describing him as one of the outstanding personalities of the game.

Wharton Court, Leominster, Herefordshire: 28th June 1866 . 0. A n original leather folder containing a glazed, hand written address from the Commitee Members, signed by the Chairman: "Jonathan Meredith", "Wharton Court 28th June, 1866." The hand witten address has coloured and historated initials, with in a blue ruled border. 11.0" x 9.0". The leather folder (or case), is covered in green/blue callf. Gilt title to front cover: "Address Presented To Mr. & Mrs. J. H. Arkwright, June 28th 1866." 11.5" x 9.5" x 1.0". ** J. H. Arkwright was born on 12th July 1833, the eldest son of John Arkwright Esq, of Hampton Court, Herefordshire and Sarah, eldest daughter of Sir Hungerford Hoskyns Bart. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford, and succeeded to the Hampton Court Estate on the death of his father in 1858. In 1866 he married Charlotte Lucy, daughter of John Davenport of Foxley, Herefordshire, by whom he had one son, John, later Sir John, author of 'The Supreme Sacrifice', and three daughters. He died in 1905 at the age of 72. The Hampton Court Estate, which he inherited at the age of 25, was purchased in 1810 by Richard Arkwright of Willersley, Derbyshire, only son of Sir Richard Arkwright, the Derbyshire cotton industrialist, from the trustee of the Earl of Essex, whose family had held it since the sixteenth century. It was extended both by John Arkwright and his son and in 1873 comprised over ten thousand acres in seven parishes, together with manorial rights, advowsons, tithes and the most imposing mansion in the county." - See Herefordshire Archive Service Catalogue.

Both envelope and letter with the Moor crest: "A Moor's Head In Profile Couped At The Shoulders"; and motto: "Moribus Antiquis" (Ancient custom). Letter from George Moor to Douglas Edwardes-Ker on the death of his Father. ** George Moor was born in April 1877 in Woodbridge, Suffolk, the son of Caroline and George. He had one sister. He died in January 1941 in Suffolk at the age of 63. He lived at Java Lodge, Pettistree, Suffolk. *** Douglas Rous Edwardes-Ker (1886-1979), Lieutenant-Colonel. British army officer seconded to Royal Engineers as chemical adviser and Assistant Director of Gas Services on Western Front, 1915-1918. Parents: George Cordy Edwardes-Ker ( 1827-8 - April 1901 ) , married at Woodbridge on 21 April 1885, to Edith Mary Rouse (20 April 1857-20 February 1952), eldest daughter of Revd. Rolla Charles Meadows Rouse, rector of Woodbridge. In 1891. George Cordy Edwardes-Ker, was a surgeon, living at Church Street, Woodbridge with his wife and their two children, Douglas Rouse (1886-1979) and Christabel (1887-1972).

They had 2 children: Mary (born 1758); Richard (born 1769) .

Family history records show that: Robert Chambers Golding was born in 1829 in Coveney, Cambridgeshire, his father, William, was 27 and his mother, Mary, was 28. He married Alice Chambers in January 1865 in his hometown. They had two children during their marriage. He died on 28 August 1889 at the age of 60, and was buried in his hometown. Census returns show him as a Retired Farmer, living at 30 King Street, Sudbury, Suffolk between 1875 - 1889 .
