White detailing the terms, conditions and payment for 'The Mystery', signed by White and his wife and fellow author, Elizabeth White, who acted as a witness for the proceedings. Loosely inserted, in the original envelope. Written by American authors, Stewart Edward White and Samuel Hopkins Adams. 'The Mystery' is an intriguing, remarkable tale, set on the high seas, with elements of the novel drawing from the real-life story of the Mary Celeste. A sailing ship is found abandoned in the south seas, perfectly intact but missing the crew. The mystery deepens when the salvage parties sent to recover the ship also seem to disappear. Wonderfully illustrated by Will Crawford, with fifteen plates and a frontispiece. Collated, complete. Bound in the publisher's original cloth, with pictorial panel adhered to the front board.
