First edition; 10 x 6 1/2; pp. 3-198; olive-green wraps, printed and ruled in black; illustrated with graphs, maps, pictures, tables, and a large, fold-out technical drawing; two stamps of the institute to front wrap and title page; sun-fading to margins of wraps; small nicks to tips of spine; staples showing at hinges with small splits around; overall in very good- condition. In Ukrainian, English, and German. The Ukrainian Technical and Husbandry Institute was established in 1932 as a polytechnical institute and a correspondence school of the Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in, then, Czechoslovakia. Fleeing the advancing Soviet Army in 1945, the faculty of the institute were granted permission by the US forces to continue their work at a DP camp in Regensburg. The current book contained lectures and notes on math, chemistry, history, etc. Very good .

First edition; 8 1/4 x 5 3/4; pp. [4], 5-158, [2]; brown pictorial wraps in brick-red and black; title in Ukrainian, English, German, and French on facing pages; illustrated with frontis plate, photographs, drawings, and a music score; a bit of wear and creasing to corners and along spine; in very good condition. Teodor Kurpita was a poet, novelist, satirist, playwright, and journalist. He emigrated to Germany in 1945 and spent time at several DP camps, where he founded the publishing house "Akademiia" and was Editor-in-chief of the scientific magazine "Ridne slovo." After WWII, Kurpita settled permanently in Chicago, where he became Editor-in-chief of the emigre journal "Ukrainske zhittia" and wrote numerous novels and poetry collections. His current work was published during his time at a DP camp in Munich and focused on Virgin Mary, revered among Ukrainians, and her representation in art, literature, and music. Very good .

First edition; 5 3/4 x 4; pp. 3-34 + loose errata sheet; stapled, olive-green wraps, printed and ruled in black; previous owner's personal stamp to front wrap; a bit of age-toning to margins and a few minor spots; in very good condition. Although, not much is known about the author, writing under the pseudonym Hoopoe (bird) in a DP camp in Germany, the little book offered practical and somewhat-amusing suggestions for civilized behaviour, including "Do not keep your hands in your pockets," "Never eat fish with a knife," "Do not spit and smack your mouth," and "Never shrug your shoulders at a woman. Very good .

Andrew Kist - a prominent Ukrainian-American priest and pastor at St. Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Minneapolis and St. George's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in St. Paul); overall in very good condition. Sofiia Parfanovych (1898 - 1968) was a Ukrainian author, educator, gynecologist, public figure, the first female student of the medical faculty of the University of Lviv, and member of the Vidrodzhennia Temperance Society of Ukraine. She wrote numerous works on hygiene, nutrition, temperance, and pediatrics, as well as several collections of fictional short stories and novels. She left Ukraine with her family in 1944, emigrating first to Austria, then Germany, and finally to the US in 1949. She practiced gynecology, until a progressive eye disease forced her to retire and focus solely on writing. Her current book on first aid and emergency medical care was published at a DP (displaced persons) camp in Germany. Very good .

Volodymyr Sichynskyi (1894 - 1962) was a Ukrainian-American graphic artist, architect, and educator. After co-establishing the Architectural Institute in Kiev, he taught in Lviv and Prague, before he was arrested and imprisoned by the Gestapo in 1943. Sichynskyi emigrated to the US in 1949, where he continued writing and working on his architectural designs until his death. His current book, on the origins of Ukraine and its name, was written, while the author was at a DP camp in Germany. Very good .

Three issues, 1947 - 1948; each with a separate title; 8 x 5 1/2; pp. 30, 82, 49 respectively; pictorial wraps in beige, gray, and black; the first two issues with text reproduced from typescript; a bit of rubbing along spine and edges; the first issue with spots of foxing to wraps; overall in very good condition. A scarce, incomplete run of an elusive periodical, it was published in a DP camp in Germany and contained poetry of the Ukrainian Resistance Movement, analyses of the Intelligence Service, etc. The current issues were titled: "Z poezii povstanskoi borotby (peredruk kraevykh vydan)" (Poetry of the Insurgent Struggle (Reprints of Regional Publications)), "Zakulisy dyplomatii (z nimetskoho)" (Behind the Scenes of Diplomacy (From the German)) by G. R. Berndorff, and "Chetverta piatyrichka moskovskoho bolshevyzmy, 1946 - 1950 rr." (The Fourth Five-year Plan of the Moscow Bolshevism, 1946 - 1950) by Trykhrest, Mykhailo. Very good .

First edition; 6 3/4 x 4 3/4; pp. [2], 5-64; greenish-beige, card stock wraps, printed and ruled in black; age-toning and light spotting to margins; minor nicks to tips of spine; illustrated with photographs; very good condition. A what appears to be the only issue from an intended series, the booklet was published by the Organization of Ukrainian Emigre Women in Germany. The organization was initially founded at a DP (displaced persons) camp in Munich, but would later spread through other camps in the American and British occupational zones after the end of the Second World War. Their goal was to provide educational and medical help, to boost nationalism and morale, to help organize classes and workshops, and to act as liaisons to their compatriots with the Americans and Brits. The book, highlighting the lives of prominent Ukrainian women, was devoted to Olena Pchilka (1849 - 1930), pseudonym for Olha Petrivna Kosach - publisher, author, ethnographer, and civil activist, and the Staritski-Cherniakhivski sisters - Mariia, Oksana, and Liudmyla - famed authors and actresses.
