Illustrated beautifully with tipped-in color plates by John Robert Monsell, born in County Kerry, Ireland, brought up in Limerick and educated in Dublin. Self-taught, he began to work for newspapers and magazines and in books of humor and for children. Married eventually to Margaret Irwin.
