No date of publication, but perhaps prior to 1885. "When Kate changed the water for her bird, she was careful to place a piece of wood before he hold till she had put back the bottle; but George was too young to think of such a precaution." When he touched the cage to change the bird's water . . . but . . . after other false starts . . .
