London. Longmans Green,1951., 2nd impression. Gerard was born about 1564 & died 1637 at the English College in Rome. A Roman Catholic priest, he travelled widely, helped to found a Jesuit house of philosophy & theology at Liege, an Institute for Religious Women, and at Flanders a noviate in the English Province at Louvain. Originally written 1609 in Latin, this is a new translatation. 287 pages. 7 b./w. illustrations. Near fine except the first 4 pages of 5 page introduction by Graham Greene have become loose, front e.p. & b.e.p. are slight foxed, top & bottom of spine & top corner are slightly bumped. Very good d./w. but slightly worn on top & bottom of spine & corners, and slightly marked. 8.75" x 5.5". 1951
