Located to the south of Berkeley Square, Lansdown House is what remains of a mansion once occupied by three British Prime Ministers - William Pitt the Younger, John Stuart and William Petty -, William Waldorf Astor, and Harry Gordon Selfridge before its partial demolition. One of the drawing rooms was removed and reinstalled at the Philadeplhia Museum of Art, and the Dining Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.A limited edition with seven hundred and fifty copies produced only, of which this is No. 105. Illustrated with one hundred and two plates, including a handful in colour. Collated, complete.Acquired from the library of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie, an English socialite and the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. She was featured by Cecil Beaton in 'The Book of Beauty&apos. Amongst her circle were Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, Coco Chanel, Salvador Dali, Winston and Clementine Churchill and Nancy Mitford.A smart limited edition relating to the collection of an important mansion let to prominent figures in British society.
