Aldeburgh, Suffolk.: Thompson's Gallery, 2001. First Edition. Original wrappers. With plates. From the collection of Zacron. Slight wear to spine, covers & corners. ; Zacron, whose birth name was Richard Taylor, was an English artist and musician, best known for creating the iconic cover artwork for Led Zeppelin's album "III," released in 1970. Born on February 27, 1943, in London, Zacron had a multifaceted career that spanned visual arts, music, and academia. Zacron's involvement with Led Zeppelin came about when he was a tutor at the Kingston College of Art. He met Jimmy Page, the guitarist of Led Zeppelin, who was looking for an artist to design the cover for the band's upcoming album. Zacron presented an elaborate concept that involved an interactive cover. The final design featured a rotatable volvelle (a type of movable device) that allowed fans to create different combinations of images. In addition to his work with Led Zeppelin, Zacron was an accomplished painter and exhibited his artwork in various galleries. He was known for his interest in mystical and symbolic themes, and his paintings often reflected these influences. Zacron also explored music and collaborated with musicians in various projects. Zacron later became an academic and earned a Ph. D. In Aesthetics and Communication from the University of Wales. He continued to teach and write on topics related to art and communication. Zacron passed away on January 9, 2012. While he may not be as widely recognized as some of the musicians he collaborated with, his contribution to the iconic Led Zeppelin III album cover remains an enduring part of rock music history. ; Octavo Oblong; 72 pages.
