London, Hamish Hamilton Ltd, London. 1946. Hardcover. Used, Hardcover in good condition, with unclipped dust jacket in acceptable condition. Jacket is marked and sunned throughout, and edges are creased and torn, with chips at the spine ends. Tear to the rear towards the lower edge has been repaired with tape from within. Boards are damp stained at the upper edge, with the colour of the board having transferred to the jacket interior. Board corners and spine ends are slightly bumped and rubbed, and page block is tanned. Board colour has also transferred to the rear pastedown and REP. Binding is sound and pages are clear. LW. Good/Acceptable.

There had already been a well-regarded animated short film of the short, short story by this time. Decoration and execution by Paul A. Lingren and Lynn Woodward. Story text on two pages. Stapled wraps binding. A color frontispiece after the 16th Century Hieronymus Bock book illustration of a unicorn in front of a date palm. Moderate corner bumps, a bit of tone to the cover. Still a pleasant, intact, and unmarked copy of this uncommon title. Very Good.
