A collection of thirty-six short stories and drawings by James Thurber (1894-1961). Thurber was an American cartoonist, writer, and journalist, best known for his cartoons and short stories. He often wrote autobiographical pieces. This particular collection was written at the time of his divorce, and so several of the stories contain marital discord. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart though slightly faded. Mark to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the end papers. Dust wrapper is generally smart though sunned. A little chipping to the extremities of the rear of the wrap and to the head and tail of the spine, with a small tape repair to the verso. Small closed tear to the front of the wrap.
