This work is in a smart, contemporary binding of half morocco with red cloth boards. With the coat of arms of W. Bradbrooke to the front board in gilt, as well as a personal library bookplate and an ink inscription of William Bradbrooke. This collection was comprised by Richard Harris Barham, an English cleric and humours novelist and poet. Barham wrote this work under the pseudonym of Thomas Ingoldsby. This particular work is comprised of poems, myths, legends and ghost stories.The best-known poem in the collection is 'The Jackdaw of Rheims', which tells the tale of a jackdaw which steals a cardinal's ring and consequently becomes a saint with the name Jem Crow. With an ink inscription of a previous owner to the first blank, reading 'Given to me by my friend F. S. Snell. M. A. who died 3 Nov. 1914. R. I. P. W Bradbrooke.' There is also a note to the same page declaring that the work was rebound in June 1920. In a smart, contemporary binding of half morocco with red cloth boards.
