The catalogue for 1848, which begins on page 5, lists 100 works to be distributed. Included among these works is the Voyage of Life by Thomas Cole (item 100, four paintings as one lot, later distributed to Brodt of Binghampton, NY) as well as one other work by Cole. Additionally, there are 35 additional works (251-285) being hung in the gallery which "are the property of individuals, and have been placed in the Gallery for the gratification of the friends of Art." These items are sequentially numbered beginning with 251 They include 3 additional works by Cole, as well as the iconic work by Frederic E. Church titled "To the Memory of Cole." Many of these loaned works give the present owners' name. Fair+, outer wraps missing. Final 2 sheets of No. 3 issue precede the block of this issue, being disbound from a larger volume. Sheets are fragile .
