HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary half calf and marbled boards, gilt orange morocco lettering-piece and gilt fleurons to spine, with the original printed wrapper bound-in; boards chafed in places, few plates stained, old traces of very small stripes of clear adhesive tape where apparently a tracing paper was attached temporary to each plate. A fair copy. ~ New edition. Atlas volume of this renowned work. First translated from the Latin "Icones organi auditus humani" in 1825 by A. Rivallié. Samuel Thomas Soemmering (1755-1830) was noted for his accuracy in anatomical illustration and this work is a fine example of his artistic sense. His illustrations were copies to the stone by E. Blanchard and lithographed by the lithographers firm De Langlumé. X-2 .
