First edition, very rare.Esmé Scott-Stevensson (1853 ? - 1925) and her husband were British residents in Cyprus between 1878 and 1882. They were keen amateur explorers, proudly eschewing the normal tourist routes wherever they went. Esmé's vivid account covers their journey to Beirut, Tripoli, Aleppo, Adana and ending in Central Anatolia. "I went to sleep ... very happy. I felt that I had accomplished a feat that few ladies would undertake; that I had travelled a country that was almost unknown ". Robinson p. 223.
