ACUTT D.G.F - Brigade in Action. The History of the Origin and Development of St. John Ambulance Brigade in Weymouth and of its Co-operation with THE Civil Defence Services during the War, 1939-1945. BRIGHT COPY IN UNCLIPPED DUSTWRAPPER

[Privately Printed], Sherren & Son, Weymouth,, [1945]. 8vo., First Edition, with plates, neat contemporary inscription on front paste-down; original blue cloth, upper board and backstrip lettered in gilt, covers unevenly faded (but all gilt wholly legible), a very good, bright, clean copy in unclipped, moderately age-soiled dustwrapper, the latter wanting most of backstrip. With relevant cutting mounted on front free endpaper verso. Probably the most detailed account of any St. John detachment in action, this scarce work is an outstanding contribution to the literature of Dorset in WWII. The author provides extensive and detailed accounts of personnel, organisation, structure, training, actions, rescues and so, together with an unusually high complement of scarce photographs, the majority published here for the first time. SCARCE; we can find no record of the main work (or its scarcer index; not present here) in any standard bibliography. Not recorded by Enser
