Chapin. Historical Picture Gallery Original 1856 - Murphy Saving the Fort' Illustration and Text of Timothy Murphy on Battlements

Art. Original Two Page Front and Back Excerpt from Chapin. Historical Picture Gallery Original 1856. First Edition The picture is of Timothy Murphy huge hero to this day in Schoharie County New York fighting from Old Stone Church at Tories and Sir John Johnson. Ordered to surrender Murphy of Daniel Morgan's Riflemen sent by George Washington did just the opposite of surrendering. Even now you can go to this Dutch Church/Stone Fort and Museum in Cobleskill in the Catskill mountain foothills nd see the small hole in the roof put there by Tory cannon! The fort held out due to this brave Irish American Rifleman and Dutch American Militia in that age of terror. Little changes but America survived and flourishes despite fear. Very Good shape. Original B/W Illus. from the C.19th century publication. The Revolutionary War history is told on both sides. Comes in Clear folder. See Three Geese In Flight Celtic Books Scan of both sides. Very Good+ .
