Abergeldie Castle, Aberdeenshire: 5th October 1872 . Autograph letter signed to 'Dear Sir', (Sir Francis, 1837-1924, Private Secretary, 1870-1913, to Prince Albert Edward (Later King Edward VII). Including the original envelope with penny-red stamp addressed to Philip Foster, Park Place, Leeds. Black edge to both envelope and leatter. Rear of envelope with black wax royal seal and circular postmarks for Leeds and Ballater, and Aberdeen. ** Family history records show: Philip Foster was born in 1840 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, his father, Edwin, was 31 and his mother, Harriette, was 25. He is listed as a Surgeon MD. Obviously with some royal association. He had two brothers and three sisters. He died on August 22, 1927, at the age of 87, and was buried in his hometown.
