Roy. 8vo., ILLUSTRATED AND BEST EDITION, with fine coloured frontispiece, 2 coloured plates, 128 monochrome plates of bindings on 84 and several facsimiles in the text; original green boards printed in black, a near fine copy. WITH THE ERRATA SLIP, and several relevant cuttings loosely inserted. This is the first and most important of the renowned Abbey sales. The catalogue (of which this is the best issue) lists 694 lots, with introduction and indexes of books on vellum, binders, booksellers, previous owners and armorial bindings. An unillustrated issue was produced in conventional Sotheby wrappers.
