Andrews, Romola & R.C., - The Sailing Ship: six thousand years of history.

London, Harrap, (1980). G hardback ex-library. First published in 1926, this book is now accepted as a standard work on the history of the sailing ship. Dr. Andrews. was a world authority in this field and together with his wife produced both an invaluable source of reference and an absorbing historical narrative. The authors trace the two main stream developments of European ships - the Southern in the Mediterranean and the Northern until they united in the 15th century to produce the standard European full-rigged ship. Then followed this standard type culminating in the perfection of the clipper ships of the 19th century. Library markings.
