Very good = no significant flaws

Reasonable = clearly read and used copy (e.g.: heavy folds, underlining, creases, etc.)
If a book has the qualification 'reasonable' the flaws will always be described. For the qualification 'good' a description will be given if necessary.
Names on title pages will not be mentioned. If a book has the qualification 'fine' it will of course not have names or ex libris in it.
If the measures of the book are mentioned it will always be hight first and then width (in centimeters). Oblong for example will not be mentioned separately.
Prices are net and in euro's. Postage and bank- or check transfer costs will be charged at cost price. Before finalizing the order you will first receive an e-mail stating the total costs of the transaction.
Books will be delivered at payment in advance. For companies, libraries and regular customers separate arrangements can be made.
Payment can be arranged by giro-transfer.
Books delivered will remain the property of the seller until full payment has been received.
Sending of the ordered books is for the risk of the seller. Seller has the right to insure goods or to send them by registered mail. The sub sequential costs will be charged to the account of the buyer after consulting the buyer.

Gaaf = als nieuw
Zeer goed = geen noemenswaardige gebreken
Goed = lichte gebreken zoals: minimale leesvouwen, lichte beschadiging omslag, verkleuring, etc.)
Redelijk = duidelijk gelezen en gebruikt exemplaar (vouwen, onderstreping, schuingelezen, ezelsoren, etc.)
Als een boek de kwalificatie ‘redelijk’ heeft gekregen wordt altijd vermeld wat dan het gebrek is en bij de kwalificatie ‘goed’ wordt een omschrijving gegeven als dit nodig is.
Namen op schutblad worden niet vermeld. Bij een gaaf boek staat er vanzelfsprekend geen naam op het schutblad.
Als er maten genoemd worden dan altijd eerst de hoogte van het boek en dan de breedte. Oblong formaten worden dus niet apart vermeld.
Prijzen zijn netto en in euro. Porto en bank- en chequekosten worden tegen kostprijs doorberekend. U ontvangt vooraf een opgave van het totaalbedrag per email.

In respect to items purchased from us over the internet, our Terms of Sale are as follows:
1) We are professional booksellers and adhere to the standards of our professional associations, both in terms of describing books and offering redress in case of a discrepancy.
2) The prices of all material offered for sale on our web site, or on the databases to which we subscribe, are net in US dollars, and each item is subject to prior sale. Normally payment in full must be received before an item will be shipped. If sending a cheque, money order, or purchase order, it is advisable to contact us first to request that the book be reserved for you pending receipt of payment.
3) Payment to Black’s Fine Books and Manuscripts may be made by cheque drawn on a US or Canadian bank; wire transfer (please contact us directly for our BIC/IBAN/SWIFT particulars); credit card (MasterCard, VISA, AMEX).
Please note that we reserve the right to delay shipment of any book paid for by cheque, until the cheque has cleared the payer’s bank account. If paying by money order, please make sure that you purchase a form of money order which may be cashed in Canada (i.e., an international money order).

5) Any item purchased from Black’s Fine Books and Manuscripts is returnable (postpaid) to us within seven days of receipt, if it is found to be substantially different than as described. However, we guarantee any item we sell to be authentic as to provenance, or state of issue (i.e. if we claim a book is a first edition, we guarantee it to be such). If our description of a book in regard to provenance or state of issue is in error, it may be returned to us (with prior notice, please) for refund within one year of purchase.
We do offer a layaway arrangement on more expensive items: generally where the purchase price exceeds $1,000. Typically, the purchaser should offer to us a down payment and propose acceptable terms of payment. We do not charge interest on payments made according to such an agreement. The item being purchased will be shipped upon receipt of payment in full. If payment is not made in accordance with the terms of the layaway arrangement, then the deposit and any payments will only be refunded after we have re-sold the item in question, and deducted our re-selling costs (if any).
We can provide digital photographs or scans, sent as .jpeg attachments, of any item in stock. In making such a request, please be as specific as possible as to the views you would like to receive. Please bear in mind that it is not practical for us to provide photos to people doing research, or seeking to compile a library of digital images, and that we are less inclined to send photos of an inexpensive book (due to the time and effort it requires), in the absence of a demonstrable need or reason on the part of the would-be purchaser.

Rectangular black morocco label on front cover decoratively ruled and lettered in gilt. Spine with five raised bands decoratively tooled in gilt, brown endpapers. Bookplate of Joel Spitz on front paste-down. Housed in the original red cloth slipcase. A fine copy of this great angling rarity. The first issue has the imprint C. Turner. A very scarce little album - we have only seen this title once before. According to OCLC there are just two copies located in institutions worldwide (Herzogin Anna Amalia Biblithek Klassik, and Kunstbiblio Staatliche Museen Zu Berlin) . The plates: 1. "Between 1825 and 1827 Monnier passed much of his time in London, where he collaborated with Lami in what was to become the Voyage en Angleterre. On his return to Paris he embarked on a series of albums in which he recorded the manners and humors of the city with unprecedented profusion. Between 1826 and 1830 he satisfied the insatiable demand for his designs with almost 500 lithographs, nearly all of which were drawn with a pen and colored by hand. For each design he himself colored a master print and carefully supervised its subsequent preparation.. Some of the salient titles in his human comedy may be mentioned. There are potpourris like Recréations du coeur et de l'esprit, Paris vivant, and Rencontres Parisiennes. Macédoine pittoresque. There are more closely focussed surveys like Les grisettes, Moeurs administratives, Galerie théâtrale, Boutiques de Paris, and Six Quartiers de Paris. There are suites like Jadis et aujourd'hui and Les contrastes, which take their departure from comparisons in time or of manners..Monnier was a satirist with a difference. His attitude towards his subjects hardly varies.
