Collection of 14 essays by the Dutch teacher of classical languages van der Blom on occasion of his retirement in 1982. With a list of van der Blom's publications, many photographic illustrations, and a portrait frontispiece. Subjects dealt with a.o. History and explanation of Latin adagia on various locations in Rotterdam, the statues made of Erasmus (pp. 29-54), Erasmus last words, and on the local charismatic historical figure Maria Leer (1788-1866). The author's pseudonym was 'Floris', hence the title. Texts in Dutch with passages in Latin. Corner chipped of French title, else very good and clean. Mailorder only - Alleen verzending mogelijk.
