[Produced by] Fleischer, Max; et al - A Collection of Six Original Photographs from Various Animated Films

Hollywood, Walt Disney Productions / Paramount Pictures, 1939. Six studio still photographs (one borderless) from "Pinocchio," "Dumbo" and "Gulliver's Travels," 1939 - 1941; 8 x 10; all from The Examiner's Reference Library, with the newspaper's stamp on verso, holograph notes (describing the specific scenes) and/or mimeo snipes pasted on; overall in very good condition - with small creases to corners, one with two small nicks to bottom edge, one with a slight ripple to right margin. Depicting various moments from the original films, the photographs featured Dumbo, Gideon the Cat, Fox, King Little and King Bombo, and Gabby. Although eagerly-anticipated, Pinocchio, based on Carlo Colodi's 1883 novel and released in February of 1940, was not quite successful. To recoup the financial losses of Pinocchio, among other goals, Dumbo was released in October of 1941 to become the most financially-successful Disney film of the 1940s. Losely based on Swift's novel, Gulliver's Travels was directed by Max Fleischer and released right before Christmas of 1939 to become a box-office success and to be nominated for two Academy Awards - Best Music, Original Score and Best Music, Original Song. Very good .
